Meet Your Officiant

Joe McParland established Creative Marriage Celebrations in 2006 to offer couples seeking a creative wedding ceremony in the south-western Ontario Region an experienced, registered marriage officiant. After graduating from Assumption High School in Windsor he received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Divinity degrees from the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario. Joe retired as a manager with the Federal Public Service after a 26-year career and was presented with the Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012 for community service.

Joe is engaged in his community, having served on the boards of many charitable and not-for-profit organizations. He hosted a weekly municipal affairs program for TVCOGECO, the local cable community television station from 2003-2013, and since 2015 he is a monthly columnist with Biz X Magazine. In his ‘free’ time he plays the role of the Fighting Parson in Windsor’s award-winning Rum Runners Tour. His great passions in life are his personal faith and value system, his family, friends, sports, the arts, and is a dedicated supporter of Greyhound Dog Adoption.

As a result of The Civil Marriage Act, Bill C-38 which received Royal Assent July 20, 2005 same-sex couples now enjoy the right to marry in Canada.

Creative Marriage Celebrations respects the rights of all persons to marry and are thrilled to be able to celebrate marriages for the LGBTQ+ community.
